I installed a new LiFeP04 in my REMOS (912 ULS) and a Voltage Limiter (VL) to protect the battery from high voltage ( a REMOS requirement SB-013). After 10 minutes of flight the VL trips. I've measured voltage at the battery and it is a steady 13.6 volts until 10 or 12 minutes when I observe it creeping up to 15 volts and the VL trips. After I land, shut down and immediately restart the VL is reset and after a few minutes of flying it happens again. Any ideas? The Voltage Regulator is a 4 year old Schicke GR6.

    Hi Ernie,
I believe it is your VR. Put the Rotax one back in.

Ernie, what part number is the voltage limiter?

I would put an Odyssey AGM back in place of the LiFE. I also have a Remo GX and the tail pipe coming off the muffler broke off at the weld in flight I was able to return to the airport but my Odyssey AGM's case was melted if I had not not pulled the LiFE battery out before the incident I bet I would have had a secondary fire from the battery which sits directly above the pilots feet. In a few minutes the direct exhaust blast burned thru the left side of the cowling and burned thru part of the fire wall and the side of the fuselage including everything else in its path. I ended up going back to the original Ducati regulator but only as a back up I installed a gear driven (B&C BC410-H SD ALTERNATOR 20-30 AMP) in parallel with the Ducati with the B&C charge volt set 2/10th of a volt higher than the Ducati so that the B&C carries the load most of the time. The lithium battery also wanted to charge too fast and tended to overload the original charge circuit. To me the Lithium is not worth the danger. Nothing worse feeling than being in an airplane that is burning.
