Re: Recommended Preservation Oil for Rotax 912
by Sean Griffin » 2 years ago
Hi Bill,
I only have the experience of one stored Rotax 912.
On the advise of my local Rotax agent/dealership
Not connected to Oil Tank, Oil Cooler, Coolant Radiator, Fuel.
All fuel drained
Engine kept in dust proof "shipping" box
All openings, including oil reticulation lines/hoses plugged.
Engine filled with almost 4 L of fresh Aeroshell Sport plus 4.
At monthly rotation;
Engine "tilted" & paused, through all axis, to coat internal components with oil.
One plug/cylinder removed and a small quantity of Aeroshell squirted into cylinder. Plugs holes covered with rag, to soak up any expelled oil. Engine rotated about 3-4 full rotations.
Plugs refitted (finger tight).
