Wow! Definitely a seizure. Hard to tell from photos but the cylinders look repairable. Don't know about the pistons but they may be salvageable too. Could have been a cold seizure.

Don't understand it with those low EGTs. Just out of curiosity, how far away are the EGT probes from the exhaust ports?

Any possibility of not enough oil in the fuel/oil mix?

    Bill.

Sorry to hear that Geoff....I know you had new pistons but what was done to the cylinders before you fitted them....where they re-bored or honeed,

Did you do the full 1 hour break in as per Rotax,

Odd it should seize at 3000rpm and those low EGTs,

is it oil injected or pre-mix.

    Nick.

Hi Guys has me stump as well with low EGTs could have been cold seizer ,the barrels were bored and honed with second oversize pistons.
it is pre mix with 50-1 mix.
l followed rotax breakin procedure exactly.
l have a set of standed barrells and pistons out of an old single ignition engine which has done 160hrs
l am going to put them in see how she goes .
    cheers Geoff..

I feel it for you....I was in a similar situation with my old 503....I spent a load of money getting it bored out to second oversize bought new pistons but unfortunately the guy that did the machining made a balls of it with the tolerances all over the place,

The bores not concentric all the way down....luckily I had them measured before I fitted the pistons...but they where basically scrap...I never did fully sort that engine out...
