582 Generator bench tests?

Does anyone know what are or where I can find bench test information on the Rotax 582 generator. I mean coil resistance and whether there is any way to check the rpm pick up - grey wire.
The generator appears to work as far as ignition/chanrging but the rpm pick appears to have a fault....I know there is lots of talk about how unreliable this is and to just live with it but we have two students in the group and the instructor would like it to work. Curently it shows a large mag drop (not real) and under-read on max rpm - indicated 5800 actual 6500rpm. And all other wiring and the rpm instument itself have been checked and found to work.
