Hello all,

I am wondering if it is possible to retrofit the oil spray nozzle into a gearbox which doesn't have one. Looks like they are standard on gearboxes after serial# 74000 and probably a good upgrade.

It also appears to have a different stepped collar (part# 847787) and the old non stepped collar doesn't appear to be available in the parts catalogue. Is it ok to use the stepped collar in a non-oil spray gearbox?

Is there a parts kit available to upgrade to the oil spray nozzle system?

Has anyone else upgraded to this?

Many thanks

If you want to change you'll need to change the gearbox to have it properly setup.

    Hi all

Actually the change took place in 2018.

You only need to buy the housing, all are now fitted with the spray nozzle inside and the step collar you already noted.  In addition you would need a gearbox seal and bearing, a mandatory change if you remove and replace the prop shaft.  Naturally you would replace any worn parts internally and reshim at the same time.  Other parts that should be changed are the lock collars on the shaft and the plastic thrust washer.

I am sure you can do this for less than a total gearbox change.  As a note the step collar is required to allow for oil to get into the prop shaft splines, never use the old step collar when fitting the new housing with sprayer. There is no kit as this is simply 4 parts and you must evaluate the others to determine suitability for refit.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the replies,

Is there any benefit to installing the stepped collar on a gearbox without the spray nozzle? i.e. does it allow more oil to reach the splines if no spray nozzle is there?
