914 Officially discontinued?
Heard a rumor but have not seen anything official in writing, is it true the 914 has been discontinued?

Rotax has not made any public announcements regarding the discontinuation of the Rotax 914 engine. To the best of our knowledge, a Rotax 914 will remain available for the foreseeable future. We will release updates if Rotax makes any announcements in this regard.

Hi Steve. A year or so ago, Stemme GmbH informed owners of the S- series motor gliders that they would be ceasing manufacture of the modified 914 used in their aircraft and owners were invited to order a spare engine prior to production stopping. There is a thread on this Forum in relation to that. https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/912-914-technical-questions/10799-rotax-914-discontinued_2
My guess is some people have mis-interpreted the cessation of production of the Stemme modified engine as being “Rotax discontinuing the 914”.
Here’s an extract from the S10-VT maintenance manual listing the differences from the standard 914 engine.
Cheers.
