Good analysis Jeff.
I see this kind of stuff all the time.
To me Teflon is expensive and there's no real benefit for the engine. Just do your 5 year rubber change. If there were issues with rubber hoses billions of cars would be sitting on the side of the road. and hundreds of thousands of planes would have already crashed because of the rubber hose.

The oil hoses on my 912iS Sport are Multi-fuel Gates Auto Master 12 mm. I can't find that online. Rotax sells the oil hose for $75 per foot! Anyone know of an alternate source for this Rotax approved hose?

Parker 836-8-RL BL
I've been using it for about 23-24 years. Never an issue. California Power Systems (CPS) got me using it way back then.
High psi is 400 and high temp is 302F
Yes I use clamps on it. Usually 19mm fuel injection clamps to secure it. Got that from Fight Design.

1/2” oil hose and 12mm are often referred to by resellers as the same, but they are not. 1/2” hose is slightly larger (12.5mm) and should be used with the aircraft is equipped with AN8 oil hose fittings. For aircraft with the metric fittings use the 12mm hose.
Identifying the fittings:
AN-8 fittings have the socket (concave) on the hose end and the cone (convex) on the oil tank or engine. The hose end fitting goes “over” the oil tank fitting. The AN-8 fitting threads are 3/4”across. The correct hose is 1/2” ID.
Metric fittings have the cone (convex) on the hose end and the socket (concave) on the oil tank or engine. The hose end fitting goes “into” to oil tank fitting. The metric fittings are 18mm (.71”) across. The correct hose is 12mm ID.

Hi Jeff,
"1/2” oil hose and 12mm are often referred to by resellers as the same, but they are not."
Your correct, but a .5mm shouldn't be an issue. A clamp will easily take care of a .5mm difference. Several hose fittings from different aircraft Mfg's cause things like this. I've never in all my years had an issue with the Parker hose with either fitting. CPS used to sell that hose for both types of fittings.
