I changed my fuel pump as a matter of course as Rotax recommend this after 5 years.

When I took my old pump off it rattled and so I opened it up and the valve had come apart and was on walk about around the pump.

We took another AC pump off another aircraft, and this one was the same.

Be Aware, these pumps are not fit for purpose and I would recommend they should be replaced ASAP.

PS

The second pump had one valve that had fallen off and the second valve was loose and ready for falling off, and if it had, there would have been an engine failure as there is no back up.

You can see on the pictures where the valves have rubbed the plating off while they were rattling around.

Also, the rubber diaphragm is seriously perished.

If you read this and you have an AC fuel pump I suggest you remove it and shake it to see if the valves are loose before you next fly.

If you read this and you have an AC fuel pump and you don't do this, good luck, because you're going to need it

You have been warned
