    Hi all,

thanks for the hints and explanations. I just ordered all the o - rings and the rubber diaphragm for the carbs. Although I thought I had inspected all openings I will just do it again. Hopefully with success. I will keep you informed with the results.

    Hi Hans,

Just make sure you flush and blow out all the little passage ways.

What are your CHT and EGT readings during this power loss?

CHT about 90°C and no instruments for EGT. Before the in flight failure CHT about 110°C.

    Hi Hans,

CHT's for a diagnoses aren't very good compared to the EGT. They have their place at times. The CHT's tend to be only on the #3 & #2 cyl. for most people. They are slow to read and are affected by water cooling so they are slow and are affected by other factors outside the burning cylinder.
The EGT is a faster read and shows what's going on in the burning process within the cylinder. That's more instantaneous. It will show whether it is too lean (hot) or too rich (cool). It can make things a little easier to see what's going on if you have all 4 EGT's, but most people don't have that. I would suggest at least 2 EGT's for most people. The analog gauges read a little slower than the newer digital instruments. If you had a power failure or some other issue and it was limited to one side of the engine I would usually expect to see it on a digital EGT in quick order. I lost a #1 exhaust lifter once and the EGT went from 1440F to 700F (on a Dynon D120 EMS) in a couple of seconds on the right side while the other EGT stayed up closer to its normal temp. So I had some idea where and what side I needed to look at. The CHT didn't really change in the time all this unfolded.
