My 914 fitted to a Sabre has just started to noticeably vibrate above 4500 I can feel it thru the rudder pedals changed the plugs to no avail I wonder if it could be in the gearbox the engine has done 1155hrs the box was fitted with a slipper at 500hrs and has not been off since any ideas?

You may need to replace your rubber engine mounts or have the gearbox re-shimmed. If the mounts are 5 years ol or older replace them. If they are young check the gearbox slipper torque and even though it may pass you may still need to shim to a higher number and since it has been a while a gearbox inspection may be a good idea especially if you are using 100LL.

Talked to my lame about the vibration and he thought it may be prop balance the engine runs fine and develops full power on take off in cruise at 4000revs its good but from 4500 on it starts to vibrate and gets slowly worse, only ran mogas he didn't think it was from the gear box as they usually present problems at lower revs the engine rubbers look ok but will have to check more closely

    Hi Greg,
Your mechanic is absolutely right it could be a cause. I good dynamic prop balance would tell the story.
