Hi. I'm tracking problem on my 912ULS.
The problem is that my oil and cht temperatures has peaks.
Problem aperas only on hot engine (about 100*C) but no peaks about 60-70*C.
I'm using Flybox Minieis for monitoring.
I checked grounding connections, wires, I cleaned every and retighted them...
Still when I fly with about 110*C on oil I have from time to time 2-3s peak up to 135*C and back to 110*C.
It's impossible to have so rapid change on oil. The same is with CHT.
Oil pressure is stabile. All sensors are VDO resistance.
Big wire from battery is connected to place when normally magneto cover is attached and from this point big wire is coming back to ground bus in aircraft (when I have connected EIS and another stuff). I checked and refixed all connections.

Where I can look for problem? Do you had issue of VDO temperature sensors? Maybe old sensors are unstable?
Engine has 800hrs after overhaul.

This doesn't sound like a really temp issue, but a poor wire connection issue. Possibly a sensor, but the CHT sensors are pretty reliable. If one went bad it may be the probe, but two at the same time isn't very likely. If any connection is slightly loose it could cause this erratic behavior. Make sure the probe' wire connection at the temp sender is tight. If you damaged a wire it could cause this. Start the engine and wiggle some wires. I know this isn't very scientific, but can sometimes lead you to a problem area quicker.
Have you had your hands inside the instrument panel lately doing some maint. You may have loosened some wires.

With engine on it's hard but I tried to shake every wire on engine turned off and readings are stable.
I removed today desk and tightened again all gnd connectors. I have one on magneto block (where wire comming from battery and goes back to cockpit), there is screwed to regulator body and second wire connected to ground bus...

I can't find recommended gnd point on engine - magneto body can be used?

Btw. What thread for CHT and OIL temp sensors I have in 912ULS from 2005?
It will be M10x1.5 or 1/8 NPTF ?

Ok, I changes wire connecting ground bus to fat wire comming from engine from 1mm2 to 3mm2. Now Oil temp is more stable but still I have shaking on CHT. Probably I'll try to replace this sensor..

I wonder, did changing the sensor do any good. Do you get stable readings now?
