I'm looking for any tips that would make it easier to replace the oil cooler on my 912ULS Searey. Other than purging the system after installation, are there other things I should do? Should I pre-fill the new oil cooler? Thanks for any help.

The oil cooler doesn't hold as much oil as some think. If your oil cooler is in such and angle that would allow a pre-fill then sure why not.

Thank you. If I can't successfully prefill, I guess it will just mean it takes longer to purge, huh?

Yes it would take longer. I use rubber stopper plugs. When I remove an oil hose or the cooler I put a rubber stopper in the end. No oil can flow out and make a mess and no air is introduced. You can pre-fill and put rubber stoppers in the openings and when ready just remove them and connect your hoses.
