Hi Roger, thank you for your advice on the gearbox, I will check it
Now I have to disagree with all due respect with you about the Challenger oil filter I use.

This filters are a copy of the filters used in most of the modern turbines, this filters are aproved to be used in all certified aircraft engines like Lycoming, Continental, etc. if Rotax don´t certify this filters this is his problem because this filters have a superior filtration tan any other media filter and I will explain you very fast, you may have the best filtration media capable to catch even the semi micrón particles, but what happen is your super closed media is by passing the dirty oil? You dn´t have a filter!!

The Challenger filters including the one for the Rotax engine are STC/FAA/PMA certified. That means it had to at least be as good as the filter it replaces.

Challenger filters were thoroughly/exhaustively tested during the PMA/STC process and found to meet or exceed the performance of OEM fiber filters. Challenger filters have been protecting piston aircraft engines since 2006 and are preferred by customers in extreme/harsh conditions.

the ARP1400 allows for multi pass testing for contaminant capture. A negative to multi pass testing is that it infers that a particle may pass through the lubricating system multiple times before it is captured.... what kind of damage can those particulates do before they actually get captured in the media? Challenger filters are tested beyond these multi pass requirements to make sure that they perform at nearly 100% efficiency on the first pass.

Magnetic filtering is an additional function included in the Challenger filters adding to the capture of ferrous particulates of any size.

The clean pressure drop is very low in the Challenger filter by comparison. This results in faster oil pressure at startup, less back pressure against the oil pump, and most importantly keeps the bypass closed long after a fiber filter has opened. It doesn't matter how good the filter media is if the oil is flowing past the media through the bypass.

BTW, I don´t have any relation or I am part of the Challenger oil filter company

    Happy Holidays!

    JM
