I'm having a peculiar situation where I will mechanically sync carbs on the low end / idle. Then when I go to full throttle one is to the stops while the other is off by 1/16". My idle stops are set the same I counted threads and did them on the bench. Its almost like they're not going the same distance.

Also is there a preferred set of gauges people like for carb syncing?

Most just use 2.25 liquid filled gauges that range from 0-30 on the vacuum.
If you are 1/16" at WOT that probably isn't an issue. By the time it's that close to touching the throttle stop the carb is wide open. So long as they are in sync up at the higher rpms versus the 2500 the book says.
If you wanted to play with the cable setup and sync the carbs again it's up to you. You could try and see if it would make that 1/16" difference.
