Hi all,

I was hitting 230f cht and 240 oil temp today in sunny 70f weather.
In 60f weather I was hitting 220f cht and 230 oil temp.

Both temps above were in cruise 5200 rpm.
Temps hit higher if im climbing.

Since both are high, I'm figuring that the cowl is the problem?

I've read so many things on air flow in cowls, I'm not sure what to do...
1 to 3 air inlet to outlet
vents in the top of cowl to let heat out
Flange before bottom outlet for Venturi effect
Build baffles around engine

The rotax mechanic moved the oil cooler from front to firewall, blocked old opening and used 3 inch duct to oil cooler due to high temps that other owner had.

Thoughts on:
ducting a second 3 inch pipe to oil cooler?
unblocking opening and let air run through?

Any thoughts would be most helpful
Thx

Don't reinvent the wheel. Just copy a cooling setup that works. Maybe get the oil cooler out front.

    Hi Garrett,

You are right, I shouldn t have to reinvent the wheel.

the rotax mechanic that put it in the firewall said there were issues with it getting hot out front. He also said that the original owner Installed a thermostat and had hoses everywhere. My personal opinion is that he moved to firewall because of the hoses...

Anyway, do you happen to have any pics of how the remos oil cooler is installed?
Or a link to the parts manual?
Or anyone else have any suggestions on how to install out front again?

Not sure if i should put it on rubber bushings or just use some aluminum angle or what.
The manufacturer of mine went out of business and the mechanic didn't leave any parts...

    Thx

    Hi all,

I'm having trouble thinking of the best way to make a bracket to put my oil cooler back out front.
If you dont mind, could a couple people post some pics of how your oil cooler is mounted out front?
Or send to my email at amhst56@gmail.com

Garrett mentioned he would get some pics of his remos. That one is mounted on the gearbox to the puller hole, not sure about other side

How is the the CT mounted or others?

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thx!

Here is my oil cooler installation. It has lasted for 863 hours and almost 13 years. Pay no attention to the exhaust abnormality; one pipe cracked and departed in flight. This is the ferry solution.

    Thx Alan,

Top is attacked to the bolt used to the pull the case.
What's the other side attacked to?
Do u have a pic of the other side?
Is the bottom attacked to the frame?

    Thx
