I'm gearing up to overhaul the carburetors on our 912 ULS and I'd like to replace the cables and housings as well, and I had a few questions as I didn't build the plane and haven't built one.

First, one end of each cable housing has what looks sort of like a compression fitting that firmly grabs the housing (pictured below). I expect that I'll need new inserts to put on the new housings? What are they called and where might I find them?

The other ends of the housings are secured by safety wire, which ends up pulling the housing to one side, causing the cable to make a sharp turn with a lot of friction. Is there a better way to do this?

Lastly, I think I'll redo this splitter for the choke cables. I'm thinking I'll make a new plate that is horizontal instead of vertical, and the bolts go through it instead of the cables. Thoughts?
