I am replacing the oil and fuel lines on a 912UL from 1993. The oil line fittings on the engine are 7/16 or 11mm. The 1/2" line is too big. It falls on the fittings and if I use oetiker clamps I cannot get them tight enough to seal. I got some 3/8" line but it is stretching it pretty badly to get it over the barb. Gates does not make a 7/16" oil line. Is there a european 11mm hose? I want to do this right as I am a shade-tree mechanic and things have to fit or I won't use them. HELP!

The Oil Tank and Pump Fittings come in two flavors.

If you have Metric Fittings (M18x1.5), it is 12mm ID Hose. (19mmOD)
If you have AN Fittings (3/4-16UNF), It is 8AN (1/2")
See the Parts catalog section 79-20-00

If you have a Metric Barbed Fitting on the Oil Pump is should be 13.2OD by M14x1.5 thread into the engine.
If you have a 7/16 Barbed fitting on the Oil Pump, it has been Rednecked by someone.

What does the printing on the side of the old hose read?

The old hose was 1/2 or 12.5mm and there were several leaks. I measured the barbs on the engine and they are 7/16 or 11mm.

The fitting on the Oil Pump is easy to change out.
The fillings on the Oil TANK are Brazed On and should be the same flavor.
Is the Oil Tank the Metric or the AN version.

Telling the difference...
The Metric fittings have the Compression Cone inside the Hose filling and the Socket on the Oil Tank.
The AN Fittings have the Compression Socket on the Hose Fitting and the Cone on the Oil Tank.
Metric: The Hose goes IN the Oil Tank Fitting.
AN: The Hose goes OVER the Oil Tank Fitting.

Or post a picture of the Oil Tank Hoses.
The old hose was 1/2 or 12.5mm...
Is this what you measured or what was printed on the hose.
If it was measured, the hose may have swelled up over the years.

If you have an AN Oil Tank, change the OIL Pump fitting to a 1/2" Barb or better yet an 8AN Compression Fitting.

I measured the oil tank fittings at .48". I'll try a different oetiker clamp to see if it gets tight enough. The problem I found is the barbs on the oil cooler measure 7/16" so I will order the correct fittings and go from there. I really appreciate your responding to me.

The Oil Tank fittings are NOT 0.48".
Remove the hose from the tank.
AN fitting will Be 3/4"(0.75") across the threads.
Metric will be 18mm (0.71") across the threads.

Or just look at the end of the fitting on the Oil Tank.
If it is Cone (Convex) shaped, it is AN
If it is Socketed (Concave) it is Metric.
