Going for paint this weekend, but using mogas.  Been told when I shut down do it with the fuel cutoff, not mags.  Then drain the carb bowls.  How does one do that?

You would have to unclip the the carb bowls and dump the fuel. If it was my plane I would drain all fuel tank included rather than let it sit with car gas for 4 months, it may no longer be safe to run in the Rotax 912. Brain Carpenter from Rainbow Aviation recently penned a couple of articles in EAA's Sport magazine (under technically Speaking) a few months ago in regards to the differences of 100LL and mogas in the Rotax 912. I have switched to the new SWIFT fuel a 100LL replacement with excellent results.

Thanks so much - I might just drain the mogas and use 100ll with decalin for the first time.  I did read those excellent articles

i think, from mogas to 100LL, YOU have change engine oil.

with 100 LL , AERO SHELL PLUS always USE.

I believe that should have stated that Aero Shell Plus 4 is the recommended engine oil for use with 100LL.  That's the Rotax recommendation in SI-912-016 R10 (paragraph 3.3 on page 5 of 13).

People hangar their aircraft over the winter all the time.

Mogas is not going to turn to jello if it sits in an enclosed tank for a few months.

Ideally, drain it below a half tank and then fill it up with fresh gas and then go fly, you'll never know the difference.
