I just did the work needed for SB-914-055UL which concerns the replacement of the circlips on the needle in the Bing carburetors. I noted the positions of each circlip on the needle and just replace them with the newer clip and o-ring in the same position. The left carb was in position 2 (2nd from the top) and the right carb was in position 3. In reviewing the heavy maintenance manual it notes that positions for the 914 are either 1 or 2. Is this normal that the clip was in position 3 on teh right carb? I know that the position of the clip affects how rich or lean the carb is so I suppose once I finally start the engine I may answer this question, but just curious if anyone else has seen this and if it's normal. Is the engine test run and tuned at the factory?
