It doesn't sound at all "normal" to me...  I don't have anything much coming out of that vent, so I have no mess, and thus no reason to catch a mess.

You will and should have vapors come out the vent tube off the oil tank. This is the vent for the engine crankcase after it returns the oil to the tank.

be sure that you follow the installaion manual from Rotax (re notch on line)  The vent line end must be in a low pressure zone and it is most likly pulling the oil dropplets out of the tank, by creating low pressure over the oil, rather than allowing it to drop as it should.  The notch has to be placed inside your cowl in an area with no low pressure (no airspeed)

I did not build it as it was built at the Kitfox factory but I will check for the notch . How far up is it supposed to be?

Why do I have so more oil than vapors coming out?
