Wow !!! Looking at that list of service bulletins makes you want to throw that motor away and get a Briggs and Stratton . I am in exactly in the same boat that you are . My engine was manufactured in 1995 with zero time . I wonder what the cost would be to have it sent out and have it brought up to date ? I also have a Subaru Stratus engine that is 100hp that had 8 hrs on it . I am considering running it .

    Hi Jim,

It looks daunting at first glance but after a lot of study reading through the list the vast majority don’t apply to my engine.  We should talk offline if your interested, contact me via email.  gkemmerson@gmail.com

    Jim Robertson

What SB or ASB or any other safety bullitens has Subaru released regarding that engine? Just because you found an engine (out of a car) that doesn't have any bulletins against it does not place you in a better postion in regards to running a Rotax. The company that used to sell those Subaru engines for aircraft is no longer around, so support and parts may be hard to come across.

The Subaru engine also had a poor power to weight ratio. With that said, the choice is yours! Briggs and Stratton (lawn mower), Subaru (Car engine and conversion company no longer around) OR Rotax (full support and parts available)

Thanks for the information . Sorry to come across as a jerk . It just blew my mind that there could be 175 sb for one engine , I do like the Rotax engine . Even though mine is a 1995 model  with 0 time . Hopefully it will be worth saving . Once again , my apologies and thank you for all the support you offer to this group .
