Hi, I have a 912uls used engine I bought to install in my Kitfox5. We had to of course disconnect the hoses and drain the reservoir tank. We want to get the hoses and tank reinstalled asap to keep as much of the engine parts lubricated while we work on the cowling and fwf install. What is the procedure to do a first oil fill and purge? I see videos for checking, refilling, and purging the oil system but nothing for a first oil fill when everything is empty. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

The procedure is detailed in the Rotax 912 Installation manual under the lubrication section.

The purge procedure is the same whether it is a first fill or if you have drained the system for maintenance.

    Thanks,

I will read thru the manual on more detail again and rewatch the the purging video.

James is correct and the procedure is the same.

I'm a little OCD on oil purges and after I do the purge once I take a minute rest and then do it a second time. I have never had a soft lifter after doing it twice and the way I do it I get 50 - 55 psi on the instruments for oil pressure while hand turning the prop when I have someone take a look. It's worked for the last 20 years.
