914 external alternator scheme
Does anyone know where this proposal originated from? And is it valid?

Hello Clyde
Yes I have seen this, it originated in Canada i believe. The idea is sound if you need to have only one bus. Simply stated the alternator will give you power as soon as you start. The internal generator has to then have some power to start to generate and add into the bus. That is the ide of the momentary switch to excite the generator. Once you have them both working if you need to lose the battery it will keep running off of the system.
Cheers
