I have not received any notification from Rotaxowener of this modification made in the gearbox housings to implement an oil lubrication point to the crankshaft bushing. Question: Can it be implemented in the old gearbox housings?

    Hello,

To accommodate the oil spray nozzle, you will need a new Gearbox cover with part number 610363. The old Gearbox covers are not compatible or retrofittable for the nozzle. Rotax has updated the Heavy Maintenance manual and the Illustrated Parts catalog to include this component. However, Rotax has not released any specific service instructions (SI-PAC) regarding the oil spray nozzle in the gearbox. Therefore, information about the oil spray nozzle was not distributed by Rotax-Owner via email notification.

Please note that the Gearbox with oil spray nozzles is implemented starting from Gearbox SN 74000 and onwards. The inclusion of the oil spray nozzle significantly improves the lubrication of the propeller shaft splines, especially when a clutch is installed.

It isn't mandatory. It wasn't an issue on the 912 UL or ULS. It was more aimed at the 912iS because the gearbox. After  about 150 - 300 hrs. the gearbox was vibrating too much on many planes. It was more aimed at the 912iS to start with. I knew several people that had to send their 912iS gearbox in   3-5 times to get them overhauled. The engine / gearbox would just start vibrating more than normal.
