Re: Lubricant Purge prior to 1st Engine Start

8 psi is just fine and completely normal..
ANY amount of pressure indicates that the pump is moving Oil. Purge is sucessfully completed.
20-40 psi is what you should see withn 10 seconds after engine START. Typically <<5 seconds.

Thanks Bill - I was not looking forward to spinning that prop another 60 times in 95 degree temps!

If you remove the bottom spark plugs and put on a heavy leather glove and wrap your arm in a towel, you can get the the prop turning 50-100 rpm and will see 20+ psi just before you collapse. ?

I pull the top plugs, apply 10 psi air pressure, wear a pair of leather welding gloves and turn the prop 80-90 times in about a 2 minutes. That's fairly fast. The gloves saves my hands. I can see 55 psi on the oil pressure gauge. Then I turn the air off and wait 2 minutes and then do it one more time to be sure. I'm 66 years old so anyone younger has no excuse. :)
