Unleaded Avgas UL91 or UL94 is not showing approved for the 912IS Sport but it is for the 912ULS.

I would be very happy if Rotax did approve Mogas minimum 87 US Standard octane (as it appears they have) for my 912IS Sport.

It would drop my fuel cost by 50%.

    Thank you for catching this!

We are going to send this info to the Rotax factory and see what they say as it looks like an error in the bulletin.

No acknowledgement from Rotax yet regarding this question?

It was a mistake in the bulletin and Rotax will have it rectified in the next update!

The knock sensor on the iS engines is for future development and not currently active.   The type 915iS has moved the sensor to the centre of the crankcase and the camshaft gear wheel has a new design to allow for an additional sensor that will read camshaft passage.  this will be used to read the camshaft angle at some point to make it fully knock adaptive.

The current issue is also part of discussion about the requirement of the engine in EASA and FAA approvals.  You are not allowed to have any controller that will give you an un-commanded drop in power.  While it is understood that this is done all the time with airliners they have no verbiage to allow this on piston engines.
