    Food for thought.

There is and will be many thoughts here and many may be right and some could look at it as stepping up the game as a cut above average.

You should always change the filter when you change the oil just like in a car or motorcycle. (Best Practices) If you thought the oil needs to be changed and it all flows through the filter why wouldn't you think the filter shouldn't be changed too. Think of the oil like the blood in your body. If you disease it or contaminate your blood you will either die soon or earlier than normal. Same with the engine. The electrical system in your engine is like the nervous system in you body. You can mess it up too.

I know what the book says, but everyone I know changes oil at 50 hours with auto fuel and 25 hours with 100LL. Several of these people have engines with 3K - 4K hours on them and nothing, but normal maintenance performed.  Many teach in classes to 50 hr. changes. Will the oil last longer?????  Sure, but the idea is to keep the blood in the engine healthy and make that engine body last those 4K hours.

Many things we do are categorized as "Best Practices" and hopefully puts us a step above average.
