Hello everyone, I have a question about the original Rotax oil tank. When I examined the oil tank diagram, I saw that there was a vent valve and a vent check valve on the vent line. Is this valve set a new addition, or do the current caps have this feature?

Also, does the oil tank pressurize when the engine is running? If so, how many kPa?

Hi there, good question.  The diagram shows some extra things not described in the manual. In the standard oil system, as it comes from Rotax, it is a simple open vent.  There is no pressure in the system so it is not a valve at all.  The picture in the IM shows an optional vent valve system that can be added for very high altitude operation.  In such a case the open vent will cause oil pressure values to be very low.  I am aware of some drone producers that do this to allow operations in the 25K plus flight levels.

It is indeed odd that they published this without explanation.

    Cheers
