I bought an articulating borescope on Amazon (UJOYOK brand). I'm 100% sure its a cheap Chinese model. It doesn't have a very wide field of view so it's like looking thru a keyhole. Can someone recommend a scope that has a wide field of view? I have a 912is.

I've watched a couple of EAA webinars about engine maintenance and seen the Oasis Scientific VA-400 recommended in both.  The photos shown in the webinars certainly looked nice; valve condition was clearly visible.  I haven't used one myself so this isn't a testimonial, but I do intend to buy one when the need arises.

I have the VA-400 and like it a lot. Just make sure you get the latest model that has a locking articulation control so you don't need to keep your finger on the button continually.

Can you tell me what model and can you post a pic or 2 of what you can see in your engine?

One thing about the Oasis Borescope from Amazon, eBay, etc or direct from Oasis Scientific...

I carefully watched the Savvy Aviation tutorial on EAA and YouTube and chose the scope I wanted. The one I chose was a USB model and it could be attached USB to laptop and save direct to hard drive.

What I received, was something different model that used an iDevice like iPad or iPhone APP (certainly they had Giggle app too) and I found that cumbersome to use as you saved the photos in the APP and then to save them or email them I found it a PITA to select, attach one by one. When I asked why they didn't fulfill my order as I purchased I got guff about this is an upgrade and use the app

Part of it too, not being able to load onto my laptop is a concern of not having the photo's easily available to surf through and rearrange.

This is my opinion, I am not an iNothing expert, nor a windows tech, so perhaps I am missing something, but I ended up sending it back through Amazon for a refund.... and I REALLY WISH IT WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT BETTER as I really A) Liked the device, it was a slick gizmo.. B) liked the Savvy Aviation recommended procedure regarding documenting the valve and cylinder condition each 100 hour/12 month inspection

(I recommend buying from Amazon as if you don't like it, Amazon will accept hassle free return where OS wants a big haDoo with explanation and RMA, you pay return shipping, etc)
