When reinstalling the gearbox after service. We used Loctite 5910 for the gasket between gearbox and engine.

I can't find any clear information about how long the curing time is on the Loctite 5910. The technical sheet is not clear to me.

We have +18 degrees Celsius in the hangar.

How many hours do we need to let the seal harden before engine start?

And do we need to wait further before we use the engine in flight?

Loctite 5910 is pretty much the same as the US version Loctite 598. They are an "RTV" room temperature vulcanising sealer, Auto companies use it too. By the time you get everything back on and torqued and some other things you need to do to the plane before a start then that's good. You have about 15 minutes after it's applied to seal things up before it starts to set up.

"Loctite 598 typically cures at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air. For applications like a transmission, the initial set time is usually around 1 hour, but full cure can take up to 24 hours depending on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. It's important to ensure that parts are assembled within a few minutes after application to achieve optimal bonding."
