When filling oil lab form, I am asked what type of metal the cylinders are in 914UL serial number

4,419,897. Are they Factory Steel,Chrome, Nickel, Mixed or other?

    Hi Joe,

Your cylinders are "Gilnisil" which is a very hard nickel based product. This is why a Rotax cylinder can't be honed by an owner with any standard hone equipment and they last forever figuratively speaking. Many times at high hours after pulling a cylinder you may see some original hone marks. Nickel
