Ceramic coating of exhaust systems

Is anyone coating their exhausts to lower in-cowl and intake temps?
My muffler (912) is sitting under the engine/carbs and there must be a substantial amount of heat coming off it and the headers.
Reading the thread about the failing CDI's due to heat. This must also help with that issue.
Reduced heat would also help preserve rubber components too.

    As far as ceramic coating goes, I have heard opinions rangeing from "no help at all" to "somewhat". I had mine done for corrosion control and it worked very well. I could tell little difference in temps under the cowl though. Having done no research in the matter, this is all anectodotal. From a purely technical point of view, it probably does help. If you want to try something quick and relatively cheaply, you might try wrapping the ehaust in asbestos type woven tape. People I know who have done this noticed remarkable improvement in temps under the cowling. It's not as pretty but it definitely works. An added benefit of either coating or tape is that anything you do to keep the heat inside the exhaust system will increase engine performance.

    I've read some reviews on local forums about it being effective, so I will give it a go.
    If I'm still not happy I'll do as you suggested and wrap it.

    My exhaust is back and fitted. As you guessed Bill, it doesn't seem to make much difference to the heat so I will be wrapping it too.
    The pic of the rusty muffler is from only 80 hrs, so I'm not disappointed I had it coated.
    No doubt a new muffler and pipes from Rotax would not be a cheap exercise !!!

    Yes, really good finish.
    Unfortunately the fibreglass airbox was quite hot to touch after the flight.
    I wonder if there is some sort of insulation paint I can put on the airbox.
