Has anyone had an E-LSA that they built.
Had any additions to there plane that were not part of the original plans from the factory. for example radios, transponders, ELT. Did you have to get approval from your manufacture and then submit that approval to the DAR to show that those items where done how the factory wants it done.

    Nate,

    The way I understand it.
If your registered E-LSA you can do whatever you'd like because it's Experimental.
If you were registered S-LSA, then you'd need the manfg's approval to make any changes.

    Hi Nate,
ELSA's usually have to be built to the exact plans then after it gets it's airworthy cert you can do whatever you want. If you build it as an experimental you can do whatever you want from the beginning. Some ELSA Mfg's have options right from the get go you can use.You will need to talk to the aircraft MFG of your choice and see what options you have available to you.

Attached is a pretty good explanation of ELSA category (from Kitplanes Magazine).
