any thoughts on how to fix my 912ULS radiator? It seems to be leaking through a pinhole in the corner weld.....or am I up for a new radiator

    Out of curiosity how old is the coolant and what type is it?

    I would put a new one in, but;

    (if you are going to write it off anyway maybe you could have someone that can weld this material take a shot. Then if it doesn't work then no loss. Try a radiator shop and just see what they say)

    Maybe the hose in this area has some sideways load on it and couple that with enough vibration may have caused a leak?

    Could have been a bad weld?

    Just a note**

    Before you remove it check for electrolysis. Take a voltmeter and touch a good ground like the battery negative if you can and take the other probe and touch the radiator and see if you have any reading. It should be zero. I have seen this quite a few times in cars, but haven't seen it with a Rotax.
    IF you have any reading you need to check the ground to the engine. I have seen where this happens and by grounding the radiator fixes it.

    Maybe Rob or someone has or can chime in.

    When mine had a pin hole in it I took it to an automotive radiator specialist. He welded, repainted and pressure tested it for about the equivalent of $60. He said that over the years he had repaired a number of light aircraft radiators.

    I have had no problems with it since the repair about 4/5 years ago.

    the coolant is about three years old I guess. The type is from auto shop and is the same type always used ( see pic)
