Mark, are you using the recommended procedure when you shut down the Engine?
If you did not, and shut down the engine to soon and do not let the engine cool down, you may have problems, check with your technician

    Mark,
Here is a 914 oil system troubleshooting guide.
    Please see attached.
You most likely have a leaking check valve. but 1st you need to determine if the problem is with the turbo oil pressure or oil scavenge system.Take a look at the guide and see if you can determine the fault.
Also see how much axial and radial play is in the turbo shaft: Take the filter off and move the shaft; the blades should not touch the housing and you should only have a small amount of axial movement.

Remove the oil return line from the turbo to the oil tank and clean it out. This is the most likely problem. This is a common problem if the oil return line is too close to a heat source and cooks and or you don't allow the engine to cool down properly before shutting it off. It can get contaminated and mildly coked up.

If you ever have a white puff of smoke at startup, but goes away remove the supply line check valve on top of the turbo and can sometimes clean it and if it is worn too much then you'll have to replace it.
