Would anyone be able to confirm whether the 5 year hose replacement is still mandatory or optional for 912 ULS engines please? My maintenance guy is insisting that it is mandatory and I can't find anything to confirm this but my understanding is that is was removed and made optional by Rotax. I could sure use some help finding the Rotax info. making it optional if anybody knows where to find it. Many thx.

Rotax still wants it done. It is in the Line Maint. manual.
The caveat here is what the FAA considers mandatory or I'm sure it depends on what country you live in with its regulations.

I was glad that I did the 5 year rubber (all rubber). Buy stripping the engine down of hoses and spark plug wires I found various issues that needed to be addressed. The spark plug wires and wiring harness had areas of chaffing fro vibration, the plug caps were starting to deteriorate. Vibration isolators were cracking. By going through everything it brought the engine firewall foreword to like new again, was glad I did it. It was obvious the rubber components have a life limit. Also if you are looking to sell the aircraft the issues would have to be addressed anyways.
