Hello, I Have a big problem, I dont have very experience with all electrical sistems, and I dissambly my ultrlight to repair one damage, and I took picture and get notes. but I va a problem with my computer and a Lost a lot of information. I have Five wires that it come out of my rotax engine. one is to rpm, I have two wires gray and yellow, that it was connected to the magnetos on off switch, and two yellow and gray that are conect to the rectificator. Is that ok, what could happen that is inveter.
Well, I hope I cant Resolve this.
    Thanks

    Agustin,

Go to the support tab at the top of the page and download the 582 installation manual. It will give you the wiring diagrams you need to connect the regulator, mag switches, battery, and tachometer. wih the engine running, you can check the AC voltage input to the regulator. If you have no AC voltage, it could be in the alternator. If you have AC voltage but no DC voltage output from the regulator, you probably have a bad regulator. Alternators and regulators rarely go bad. Such problems are usually wiring or a bad battery.

    Good luck.

    Bill.

Bill, I building my ultralight, and now ihave to do engine instalation, and electrical.

i have this pdf, that I have to connect two wired to the regulator and rpm, and ground.
If you see the picture of my rotax engine yo will see 5 wires.
    Yellow
    Yellow and grey
    Grey
    Grey and yellow
    grey anyellow.

So In the old instalattion Ihave the two wired grey an yellow, to the magnetos swicht, an the yellow to the reciticator.
    Grey rpm.
    It that ok.
    Thank

    Agustin,

    You have the wiring right.

When you start the engine, check the output side of the regulator with the engine running. You should get about 12.5 to 13.5vdc. If you have no output voltage from the regulator, check the input side and you should have AC voltage going into the regulator. If you have input AC voltage but no DC output voltage, the regulator is bad. The engine will run with a bad regulator and bad battery but you will have no electric start or instruments.

Sorry my ignorance, but in my regulator that I dont know if is a rotax regulato, I have 5 wires, and It was connected, one to ground, two wires for the positive, and two to the engine. so I theory, my input, is the two wired connectly directly to the battery, and the other to the engine, so the two wires of the engine has to generated, AC, but the output all have dc becuase are connected to the Battery.
Is that Ok, Or Im reallly lost.
sorry, but here in my city I dont have anyone with experimental aircraft, and the city much closer is 300 km from my city, and We dont have a forum to share with other people. So Im very gratefull, with you.
    thank
