Yesterdat I realized many, test, first, I fill wiht 2,5 litres the radiator, then I get out the thermostato and I tested if it work, my termostato doesnt have any reference of how many degrees its open, so I tried bouling water, and It work.
So I put all in place, and I flight, and the temp again gos to 95 c° and stay there, for 1 min, and the i landed because the temp goes to 100 c°, and the water was going out, and dont have this temperature.
So I get out the termostato, in my city yesyterd we have 22c°, and it happen the same.

I have the radiator, and a expende tank full closed, with to line 1/4, one come of the radiator, and the other goes otuside. so if the water boild i loss the water. seen more picture of rotax engine, this is no ok.
but my question is if I dont modificated anything, since I bought the plane and I flgh 3 hours to my city, and the temp all the time was in 80 c°, why doesnt work know.
    thank

    agustin,

It would be interesting to see how it performs without the thermostat. Mine lowered the temp by 5 degree without it. You have to watch the temps dont get to cold on decent though. When you fly the airplane home, you might not of noticed the initial high temps and once you got to cruise height and rpm... the temps would then come down by itself. Also, the OAT might have been lower on that day. I still havent fixed my heating problem, but I just dont go flying on warm days and climb slowly at slightly lower rpm which keeps me within limits for now until i find the heating cause. I am still waiting for someone to help me check the timing on mine.
As far as the missing overflow bottle... can you simply install one yourself?

Michael, I run the engine without termostat and nothing change. the temp, after a few minutes was in 95 c°, so I stopped, and prepair to think another idea.
So now this week I will put an expantion tank. to see waht happen.

Sorry the picture show the expansion tank, old, that on line goes to the outside of the airplane

agustin... the expansion tank is definitely required so go ahead with that project, but I don't think it has anything top do with the heating problem. Your symptoms are exactly the same as me... within 2 minutes after take off and still in the climb @ 6000rpm... the temp exceeds maximum. I am surprised removing the thermostat made no difference because even though mine was working properly, when I removed it I was able to climb an extra 1000 - 2000 feet extra before exceeding max temp. So it did help.

Have you flushed out the engine and radiator and looked for evidence of blockage/rust?
What coolant mix are you using?
Have you checked the water pump is actually working?

I took mine out again in warmer weather and of course the same thing happened... but this time I throttled back to 5900 (drop of 200rpm) and climbed very slowly, and I was able to climb as high as I wanted without red line. And when I throttled back to 5400 rpm at 4000 feet she cooled from 175 to 150 degrees really fast... like in 60 seconds. The more I think about that the more I think it is actually really the timing. Soon I hope to get that addressed, and if successful, you might also consider the same agustin. As a matter of fact... why not just get it checked anyway.
