582 high engine temp

    Today I will do a test with the expansion tank, but one thing how much water and coolant, has carry my radiator configation
    On initial time I put 2,5 litres of the mix 50% of water and coolant.
    the system may be improperly purged?

    augstin, thats the same amount I have in my twin rad system. Doesn't sound like much, b ut apparently it is correct amount, so it should be purged correctly. The 50/50 mix is correct also, but to help get the temp down I now am using 75% water 25% coolant.

    Michael. I build all again in the same thing that it was when I bought.
    But I realized a little modification. I put a little oring in the radiator cap. So I refill the system with only water, and I put the termostate.
    I Start the engine for 10 min, to a 4000 rpm, and the tmep measured was betwen 90° and 95 °. all the time and do not trown the water. So the next step is to compared the instrument. and Test Fliymng.

    agustin, if it is still showing 90C it is still too hot. I am not sure what you have done to the rad cap, but it is possible the O ring is causing pressure build up inside the rad and thus the higher temps still... and NO COOLANT ESCAPING. I would not fly it like that. In all my over heating problems I still have not exceeded 85-90C. The rad cap is designed to "throw water" when the required pressure is exceeded, and by the sounds of things, that O ring is allowing that pressure to be exceeded providing grounds for a disaster. Be careful.

    Agustin,

    Mike is right. Adding extra O rings in the radiator cap can raise the pressure in the cooling system to the point that you could rupture a coolant hose or blow a head gasket.
