Hi Michael - I have been following the thread and would like to make a few comments.
The thermostat only cycles once, it opens after the coolant reaches 135/140F and remains open for the rest of the operation, cooling is controlled by the air flow.
All radiators are not created equal, a poorer quality radiator will not dissipate the same BTU's. The cooling capacity of the radiator is governed by the construction of the core. In your photo the bonding between the fin and tube looks suspect.
The WOT spec must be achieved, if the engine does not come close to the specified RPM than you cannot use the jetting charts supplied. An overloaded two stroke engine will run richer than desired, thus the lower EGT reading and higher coolant temp.
In the video it looks like you have a ground adjustable 3 blade wood propellor. I would suggest you should carefully check this over. If the RPM loss is a result of movement in the blade clamping it must be corrected. Ignoring it could be catastrophic.
The PSRU appears to be a 'B' box and I would be very surprised if that prop does not exceed Rotax limits for mass and wieght. Most 3 blade adjustable props are in the upper limits for a 'C' box.
If it was mine I would reassemble everything, check the clamping, balance, pitch and tracking on the prop with it set to pull 6250 static. This should produce about 6500 on climbout and close to 6800 WOT. I would be surprised if this does not correct your cooling issue.

Mike just for clarification....has it ever ran at the correct temp....not sure how long you have owned the a/c...just wondering when you started having these probs.

Dennis, thank you for your detailed reply.

I didn't know that about the thermostat staying open. However when I tested it in hot water it did close when the temperature dropped. Maybe that is when it drops below a certain level. So I guess the thermostat is only needed to warm up the engine quick.

Regarding the propeller, I will have to do more homework on that as I don't know anything about them...even adjusting them. As soon as I get her back together again I will pursue that. Thanks for pointing it out tyo me. See? A picture does paint a 1000 words.

BTW... what is the correct temp to warm up before takeoff? I am hearing 150 deg min, but that only leaves 30 deg to redline. I must confess, before finding that out I always only waited to reach 120 degree and then WOT for takeoff. How come I never done serious damage already? Hmmm, maybe I have, but it don't appear on the cylinders that I can see.

Nick, I had the Avid 18 months now and never noticed it redline until recently.

I usually keep an eye on temp gauges so I doubt I missed it. Oh boy, I tell ya, when I get this baby right there will be huge celebrations.

I included a pic of both the cylinder and one of the pistons. Ya'll think they look ok?

    Thanks mate.... Mike

Mike has this over temp condition only started since you had the new stator fitted or can you pin point when it started and what work was done immediately before it started to get hot,

Do you have any pics of the other cylinder.
