Bill, yes I did move the rings slightly and all 4 are loose in the groves. Could have been my imagination I do have a big one) but I thought maybe the first one I checked did seem a tad tight, so after I checked the other 3... I went back to that one and pressed it several times and it was free.

I want to check the prop now for anything loose and make sure all are at the same angle. I dont have a tool for it and it is Sunday so hard to get one today, so I will try and devise a way to check them. I dont want to confuse the matter any further than I have to, but the last time I flew it a few days ago, I did seem to get some more engine vibration around the 5000rpm mark when coming home. It was not there during the main part of the flight... only the last 2 mins of it. I was thinking at the time it might have been something I forgot to attach back on when I did my radiator back-flush etc, but could find nothing. So I suppose it might possibly be a prop related thing also. Now wouldn't that be a bummer after all the other work I done already. Time will tell. When I do eventually find the culprit and fix it....the only thing not new on this plane will be the engine block hehe.

    Nick and Bill,

what do "pickup modules" look like? I don't remember the rotax guy removing any thing when he fitted the new stator plate (except half his finger tip poor chap). The stator was changed because the engine was so hard to start and after with the new one....it stats like a rocket. never known and engine to start so easily...super easy even. And believe it or not....the idle is smoother now also after the stator was fitted. So maybe it is retarded a bit. It may/may not be the total problem, but just maybe it could help matters if it was tuned proper. Oh boy, another thing to investigate and learn how to do.

And mine will be even harder because my flywheel cover is very close to the firewall as well.

G'day Dennis, I been away 2 days also so never mind mate.

Thanks for the info. My OAT temps are much higher than yours of course.... like winter here a normal day reaches 55-60 degrees and a normal summers day is 85-100 with many days over that even. Last week it was 110 deg which keeps us indoors. Each year we break new records and we had 115 deg a couple years ago and fires galore.

So yes, maybe you guys dont get my temps simply because its so darn cold there :) You say normal for you is 170-180? Wow that seems hot doesn't it Dennis? The manual says not to exceed 175 deg... Is it different for your engine?

Hi Mike sorry I was a bit back to front re your stator and your problem,

What part of the world was your Avid built...just wondering if it operated in a cooler part of the world before you bought it,

Or in fact did it ever run at a temp below 180f....Rotax quote min engine temp of 150f so it doesn't give much of a window to operate...I was reading the other day that the 582 rads need to be able to let 14 galls per min to flow through them...I wonder with your OATs going up if yours just cant cope....I will see if I can find the article,

    So many ifs and buts,

Have you asked your Rotax guy to see what he thinks.

Thank you said by: Michael Regan

And the one below for coolant flow rates...

    http://www.ultralightnews.com/enginetroublshooting/rotaxtr/trrtx3.html

In the second link look under cooling system,

Maybe worth taking the rads off and making sure that they are ok and up to the job...the photo I saw of them a few post back...they looked a bit tatty...but looks can be deceptive I suppose...note what the guy writing the second link says about clogged up cylinder heads slowing coolant flow,

With your hot climate though it is testing things to the extreme.
