Hi all, newbie to the forums. I have a Rotax 503 mounted on my under construction Kolb Firestar II. I have the P leads wired and a self built bus system. I know the gray wire goes to the tach, but I have a black/yellow and a black wire that apparently come off the generator system. I can't get a straight answer as to what wire should go to the regulator to power instruments, lights, accessories etc. I am running a battery system (no electric starter), Facet fuel pump, and a connection for a nav/comm. It is a low hour engine in beautiful condition, and am getting ready for the first trial start. I guess what I'm asking is which wire powers accessories/fuel pump, and charges the battery. I know this is a long post, but when I talk to the seller (a very reputable dealer in the old 503's) I can't get a word in edge wise. Everything is straight forward with the dual EGT/CHT's and Hobbs. Which lead does generator power come from. Black or Black/Yellow? There are no other wires without a destination. Obviously I am really new to working on this engine. Research has been difficult at best. Please Help!!

There are electrical diagrams in the 503 Installation manual: http://www.rotax-aircraft-engines.com/portaldata/5/dokus/d00287.pdf

have a look at pages 18-3 through 18-8

Other 2-stroke manuals can be found in the Support/Bulletins | Engine Manuals menu link above...

    Frederick,

You can go the the "challengers101.com" site and get ALL the information you need there.
Having built a Challenger 2 LSS CWS with the 503 and flown for 3.5 years, I can attest to the great information on that site.

You can literaly find the answer to any question you may have.

Also, join the forum. It's probably the best 503 site you'll find.
