I had to remove the water pump housing to access the motor mount. The paper ghasket is in fine shape, can I reuse it, add some sealant, sealant only? Suggestions? The obvious answer is put a new one on, which I don't have so I am wondering is this is a sensitive area.

    Hi Walt

I would not use a sealant.  Just use some lithium grease, put that between your fingers and just swipe it on both surfaces very lightly.  That will allow the paper to not bond to the metal and it should be fine.  Yes for sure the best is a new gasket.  The problem comes when you mount it back on, before you install the outlet nipple, measure the pump to housing clearance at the pump vanes.  Use a round feeler gauge for best results.  See the heavy maintenance manual for the spec.

    Cheers

I’m not at the hangar where my manuals are. Are you saying there is a bit of “freedom” in the housing that I will use the feeler gauge for alignment?
