    Hi Sean,

Nice to hear from you, and of course you are right. However…

The Japanese built on the ideas of others, but always endeavored to improve both the process and the product, not just build it cheaper. If you have ever read the book “The Toyota Way”, you can understand how they set new standards for quality control and built a culture of continuous improvement. Their methods became a model for many manufacturing and construction systems.  The reasons and motivations behind the type of cloning done with the Rotax 912 feel different to me.  I know I’m likely in the minority with this, and my decisions are not going to be of much consequence, but as Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Ok, we can go back to talking about fixing airplane engines now😬

    Hi Jeff,

".............. always endeavored to improve both the process ....."

The Zonsen Aero Engine (Rotax clone) is not an exact copy. Improvements(?) have been made.

The most obvious differences, is that it is completely liquid cooled, as opposed to Rotax heads only.

I am not advocating for/against the Zonsen (I think there is also a Russian one) just suggesting a more open mind/assessment😈.

Sean it has air cooed cylinders, just like Rotax.

    Cheers

    Hi RW

"Sean it has air cooed cylinders, just like Rotax."

My apologies , you are correct for the smaller 80 -115 Hp engines, however the 145 Hp is fully liquid cooled.😈
