inadvertantly reversed polarity on a 912-s and smoked the capacitor. Did it likely smoke the voltage regulator as well?
Thanks,

If you only left it like that until you saw it smoking :woohoo: and shut it down the just replace the 22,000 Ohm capacitor. The reg/rec should be okay.

Did that once myself  not paying attention a number of years back. It only takes once and you never forget. ;)

Roger, thanks for the info, I'll just order the capacitor and try it. You are right that once is enough. Next time I replace the battery I'll check polarity at the starter solonoid before turning on the master.

I might need to back track a little. I may have read your post wrong. Did you hook up the battery backwards or just the capacitor?

    Hi Paul,

Was this just quick oops or was it this way a while?
I believe it will be okay. Replace the capacitor and give it a try and keep a sharp eye on the voltage and the gauges on first start.
