Coolant in cylinder after storage

    Hi Rob,

    I'm with you as far as a coolant wall breach, but he's pretty adamant that coolant is leaking into the cyl, which I have never personally seen. Wouldn't you think a compression test of some kind on that cyl. would be a tool to help rule this theory in or out on a hard to see crack or leak?

    If the exhaust valve was in the open position and the exhaust port had a porous casting (have seen this before, twice) or a crack (never seen this) it could flow into the cylinder depending on the position of the engine?

    I'm only as adamant as I'm sure I've never seen fluorescent green rain water... will have a chance to clean it up a little better and possibly pressure test next week. I had heard of the porous casting issue and that would make sense since it was certainly under pressure for some time, sitting in the sun last summer. If this is the appropriate place to ask this, Rob, what would it cost for your shop to clean up the head, lap it to the cylinder again etc.? The engine has been sitting in its normal installed position the whole time, was not upside down or uncovered.

    Hi David,
    Lockwood would be able to do this work for you and they are much closer. We are swamped for the next 3 months.
