I have an oil leak from the water pump weep hole. It started after work on the water pump (about 15 hours ago) to cure a coolant leak from the other weep hole. This entailed a new ceramic seal, pump shaft and oil seal fitted by a Rotax engineer.
Is there any other possible cause for the leak from the weep hole other than the shaft oil seal? (e.g over pressure etc).
If not is it possible to replace the oil seal without involving removal (destruction) of the ceramic seal - requiring Rotax engineer expertise?
Thanks

Having some fluid come out the pump weep hole is perfectly normal and I see it on probably 100% of the planes that come into the shop. Some may look like a littler more, but many times that just because of the air flowing down through that area at times keeps some of it blown off. It will feel oily. Most also have the oil tank vent tube down in that general area and vapors do get swirled around there a little. If you have a large puddle on the floor that's a different issue. If you live in cold country you might even see an occasional 1-2 tablespoons of fluid. That's normal to and usually goes away in warmer weather. If you push the ceramic seal out you're putting in a new one.

Thanks but specifically am I right in thinking that the shaft can be pressed out and the oil seal replaced without requiring the ceramic seal to be disturbed. It's definitely drips of oil. Is the oil seal the only source of oil that can escape from the weep hole?

Yes, the oil seal is the only place oil can get out.
The ceramic seal is destroyed when you press out the shaft. No options here.

Thanks for the reply Rob, so the loctite takes the seal out with the shaft.
At least it must be the oil seal as the source.
