EGT temps are going to vary during rpm changes. That's perfectly normal. Using a 5200 rpm in climb would be okay and works well with a variable pitch prop, but not so well with a fixed pitch. 5200 rpm on climb out will put you up to at least 5800 at WOT in level flight and for some depending on prop and aircraft may put you over 5800 max rpm. In the US we can't have variable pitch props on many of our planes like the light sport group. So finding a happy balanced medium works well and no one has had any issues doing this. Many here in the US have the props pitch setup for 5500 - 5700 rpm at WOT in level flight. During a research project of mine I found that 5600-5650 was a nice well balanced setup for climb, cruise, fuel economy and engine temps. If you have a special need for a better climb prop over cruise then by all means flatten the pitch if needed. Don't over analyze EGT temp variations. Use it as one of the many tools at hand to see how things are performing as a whole engine. EGT temps vary between aircraft. The EGT values are in a range of temps and should be looked at as a tool in conjunction with other things to determine how things are performing within the engine.

    Roger.

I really appreciate you (and the others) taking your time to explain this to me. As for prop rpm I will do some more testing when flying, but maybe leave the pitch where it is. As for the EGT, I am calmer now and will rather look for changes to the "normal" behaviour, rather than trying to fix what may not be a problem.

Thanks a lot to you all
