I was thinking more of the return line check valves actually. Also the return line has to be able to handle the return fuel volume. The installation manuals shows the requirements.
I know that if you install a regulator with a static higher pressure setting it will force the fuel burn much higher. Also given the regulator is mechanical there is always an overshoot or undershoot of pressure, it is never exactly 3 bar. The exceedance is shown in the IM on the min and max values for that.
