Looking for some info/advice!

I have a 912 and I see it is recommended to use a throttle control setup with adjustable stop's
I now have a duel cable no stops it uses the stops on the carbs Not on the cable control
my problem is sometime depending on how hard you pull back on the knob (not Fast but hard)to Idle it idles good
and sometimes it drops down below the normal idle speed and the engine stumbles and floods from float vibration from low rpms
(1200-1400 rpms) some times quits LOL but only when the plane slows down reducing the windmilling effect

I don't see where it is bending the idle stop tabs do they just flex?

Questions:
Has anyone had this problem or is there something else going on?
Should I replace the throttle control with one with stops?
If so what brand are fellow pilots using I only see one by VERNIER-ASSIST so far?

    Hi david,

You should have a throttle stop somewhere in the system. If you don't have one in the cockpit you can put a cable stop out on the throttle cable as seen in the picture. You will bend the idle stop plates if you yank back too hard without one and could cause an engine stoppage. The cable stop should butt up against the Bowden cable adjuster at the idle rpm you want to achieve when the throttle in the cockpit is all the way back.

    Hello David,
My factory aircraft also has no adjustable throttle stop on the throttle handle.
I've just backed off the stop screws on the carbs.
Not textbook, I know but avoids hitting/loading the throttle bracket.

    Hi Rhett,

By not using the idle stop screws then either the high rpm or idle sync has to be off. This has your engine on one side trying to run at one rpm while the other side tries to run at another. You need the Bowden cable adjustment and the idle stop screws to do a good and correct carb sync. Best to use a cable stop like in the picture above or some other type throttle stop. For about $3 the cable stop is a pretty cheap fix.

Depending on your type of throttle and how it is set up, plus not having a throttle stop may also allow you to pull back too far and cause an engine out due to shutting down the carbs too far.

Would you need to use one of these cable stops on each side, or is one side sufficient?
